Don't be afraid to ask questions when it comes to safety; consider all possibilities and consider additional research on individual helmets and their ratings.

Helmets can be found at many equine/ranch stores and online retailers.

Why do some not wear helmets?

Some equestrians/cowboys/cowgirls wear cowboy hats either for fashion or breathability. They are also not as heavy as a helmet and do not provide as much protection in the case of falling.

How do I know it fits?

The riding helmet should fit snug around our head. when wearing, it should be able to move your eyebrows and your forehead up and down. If it feels to tight or painful to wear, try out a new helmet. If the helmet moves freely, then it is to large.

What should I do with my hair while wearing a helmet?

There are many different ways to wear your hair. A ponytail will help keep the hair out of your face with long hair. A hair net will keep the helmet from pulling on your hair.
